Susana Baker

Susana (soo-SAH-nah) Baker is a hammered dulcimer performer from St. Louis, MO. She has been playing hammered dulcimer since she was 14, after 4 years of playing classical violin. Through the hammered dulcimer she was introduced to the wonderful world of folk music, which soon overtook classical music as her preferred style. Susana draws inspiration from various folk traditions, including Old Time, Celtic, Canadian, and Scandinavian.

Susana is the 2024 National Hammered Dulcimer Champion. She also placed second in the senior fiddle category at the 2012 Florida Old Time Music Championship.

You can catch Susana playing hammered dulcimer around the St. Louis area, including contra dances, the First Missouri State Capitol Historic Site, playing at her church, or joining in with local Old Time jams.
